Meta Progression with Skill Tree, Leveling & Card Upgrades
Meta Progression - FAQ
What does Meta Progression mean?
Meta progression refers to permanent progress outside of individual matches. In Frontline Protocol, this means that with every game, your access to new cards, booster packs, difficulty levels, deck strength, and long-term rewards increases.
What does the Skill Tree do?
With every level-up, you earn a skill point that you can freely invest in the skill tree. There, you unlock passive bonuses – such as more starting resources, additional cards in hand, or higher credit production. This gradually individualizes your playstyle.
What are Booster Packs for?
Booster packs are a central part of meta progression in Frontline Protocol. They can contain new cards and Card EXP, which strengthen your deck over time and contribute to your meta progression. As you progress in the game, you gain access to higher quality booster packs to unlock increasingly rare and powerful cards.
Each booster opens up new options for your builds and strengthens your position in the deckbuilding system over the long term.
Level System & Skill Tree
Meta Progression for Your Playstyle
With every match you win, you earn experience points and move closer to your next level-up. Leveling up not only brings booster credits or rare cards, but also unlocks new difficulty levels, the mission system, and more deck strength. The latter allows you to include stronger cards in your decks and strategically refine your playstyle.
In addition, with every level-up, you receive a skill point to invest in the skill tree – a central element of your meta progression. Whether it's more starting resources, extra cards in hand, or passive bonuses for your economy – you decide where to place your focus. Some skills are available right away, others require reaching specific level intervals (every 5 or 10 levels). This creates a flexible yet deep system for customizing your playstyle.
Card Upgrading
Long-Term Progress Through Card EXP
In addition to player EXP, you also collect extra Card EXP for 1–3 cards after each match. Booster packs also occasionally contain freely distributable Card EXP. You can invest these experience points in specific cards to upgrade them, permanently reducing their credit cost when played.
In the long run, you can further individualize your deck: The perk system currently in development will allow you to unlock unique bonuses for each card – scaled by rarity (from Common to Epic). With over 60 perks, this creates a deep meta system that rewards strategic thinking and is perfect for players who want to perfect their deck over time.
