Frontlines & Base Control - The Dynamic Battlefield in Frontline Protocol

Battlefields & Lanes

Multiple Bases, Tactical Links, Defined Paths

Each map in the real-time tactics game Frontline Protocol consists of multiple bases connected by fixed frontlines. Between any two bases lies at least one battlefield, which can contain one or more frontlines. Your units move automatically along these lanes, just like in an auto battler - there’s no free movement, only predefined paths.

The distance between lanes is variable depending on the map and layout. Some run so close together that units with long range - such as snipers, mortars, or rocket infantry - can fire across lanes. This creates a tactical network where range, positioning, and timing decide whether you dominate or lose a lane.

Control Bases Instead of Destroying

Influence Mechanics Over Classic Annihilation

Unlike many RTS or MOBA games, the goal isn’t destruction - it’s tactical base control through influence. Your units must reach the enemy spawner unhindered. The further they advance, the more influence they generate at that base. Once 100% influence is reached, the base is considered successfully captured.

Different unit types generate varying amounts of influence: vehicles more than infantry, tanks more than vehicles. Injured units only contribute partially - but at least 25% of their potential. That means you can capture bases through smart timing, counters, and support actions without needing to destroy the enemy entirely.

Tactical Use of Spawners

Range, Positioning, and Card Selection Decide

Unit spawners vary in size (S to XL) and allowed unit types (e.g., infantry only, vehicles, or all types). This not only determines which cards you can play, but also how many units spawn at once and how they form up. Large spawners allow multiple units to spawn side by side, which can be crucial for offensive pushes or blocking tactics.

Making smart use of lanes and spawner sizes allows you to bypass, delay, or flank stronger enemies - especially effective in co-op. Those who master positioning on the battlefield can achieve great impact even with basic cards in a coop match.
