2. General Information on Data Processing
This privacy policy informs you about how personal data is processed when using the game “Frontline Protocol.” Protecting personal data is important to us. Processing is carried out in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
3. Data Collected During Gameplay
When the game is started, technically necessary data is processed to enable gameplay functionality. This includes in particular:
• Steam ID: Transmitted in encrypted form to the lobby server and hashed using SHA-512. The original ID is not permanently stored.
• Save Data: Game progress and acquired content are stored in encrypted form on the database server.
• Assigned Account ID: Assigned server-side and used as an anonymous user identifier after the login.
• IP Addresses: Not logged or permanently stored, but only held temporarily in RAM for network communication.
4. No Registration - No Personal Profiling
No registration using name, email, or password is required. Players authenticate solely via their platform ID (e.g., Steam ID), which is not stored in plain text. No profiling or analysis of user behavior is performed.
This does not apply to typical gameplay features such as optional leaderboards (see section 7).
5. Deck Names and Free Text Fields
Players can assign names to their own card decks. These names are only visible to the individual player. We explicitly advise against entering any personal data such as names, phone numbers, or email addresses. These entries are not analyzed, linked, or evaluated in any way.
6. Purpose of Processing
The collected data is used exclusively for the following purposes:
• Technical provision of game functionality (login, matchmaking, progress)
• Management of save data
• Prevention of cheating and misuse
7. Leaderboards
The game provides public leaderboards. High-ranking player results are automatically recorded and displayed to other players.
Processed Data:
• Steam username (publicly visible)
• Achieved time per map / game content
Purpose of Processing:
The processing is carried out to provide leaderboards in order to make player performance comparable and to enable a typical competitive gameplay experience.
Legal Basis:
The processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Our legitimate interest lies in providing this online feature.
Automatic Entry:
Players are automatically added to the leaderboard when they achieve a sufficiently high ranking.
Public Visibility:
Entries in the leaderboards are visible to other players.
Data Retention:
Leaderboards are limited to a fixed number of entries per map and difficulty level. When a new entry is added, the lowest-ranked entry is removed. Data is therefore only stored for as long as it remains part of the leaderboard.
Right to Erasure:
Players may request the deletion of their leaderboard entry at any time. Requests can be made via the contact details provided in the legal notice.
Note on Usernames:
The displayed Steam username is chosen by the player and may contain personal data. We recommend not using real names.
8. Data Disclosure to Third Parties
No personal data is shared with third parties. No analysis is performed by external services (e.g., analytics, advertising, etc.).
This does not apply to displays within gameplay features such as leaderboards.
8. Data Retention
• Hashed platform identifiers and save data are stored as long as active game progress exists.
• Technical data in RAM (e.g., IP addresses) are discarded once the connection ends.
• The original platform ID (e.g., Steam ID) is deleted after the internal account ID has been created.
9. User Rights
As a user, you have the following rights under the GDPR:
• Right to access (Art. 15 GDPR)
• Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
• Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
• Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
• Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
To exercise these rights, please contact us at: info@frontlineprotocol.com
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update this privacy policy when necessary, for example in the event of technical changes or new legal requirements.
